Rob’s Triumph Thruxton R underwent a stunning transformation at Hitchcox Motorcycles. What started as a simple exhaust upgrade sparked a creative collaboration between Rob and Tom, Hitchcox’s mastermind mechanic.
Tom embraced the project with enthusiasm, starting with the bike’s inverted Showa forks. He sent them for special treatment, transforming their appearance with a combination of anodizing and a titanium coating.
To create a visually striking contrast for the upcoming modifications, the swingarm received a deep black powder coat. Tom, showcasing his skills as a metalworker, then shortened the Thruxton’s subframe to perfectly match a custom loop-style rear section he designed.
This sleek tail section cleverly incorporated Kellermann LED lights, creating a clean look by eliminating the need for separate taillights and turn signals.
A clear coat ensures this masterpiece endures the elements. Electronics got a makeover as well, with Dave Wood streamlining the system. Gone are the bulky stock components; a new ECU and a Motogadget Bluetooth controller now manage a far more elegant electrical setup.
Replacing the modern fuel injection with classic carburetors adds a touch of old-school charm. The crown jewel, however, is the handcrafted titanium exhaust, a masterpiece from Sir Hitchcox himself.
It snakes between the frame tubes, terminating discreetly under the seat, while internal baffles keep the sound within reasonable limits. Down below, Galfer wave-style discs grip lightweight aftermarket rims wrapped in Dunlop TT100 GP tires, the perfect combination for precision handling.
The final touches include sleek clip-on handlebars, a HEL master cylinder for enhanced braking power, and a headlight with a distinctive yellow tint, adding another layer of personality to this one-of-a-kind machine.
