The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore emerges as one of the select electric convertibles, showcasing formidable power. Following the earlier launch of the GranCabrio, enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting its electric variant, which has now made its debut in Rimini, Italy.
Sharing its drivetrain with the GranTurismo, the GranCabrio Folgore packs a punch with three electric motors generating 750 hp and 1,350 Nm of torque, reaching a temporary peak power of 830 hp, all distributed to the road through all four wheels. This makes it not only unique as an electric convertible but also exceptionally potent, rivaling the strength of models like the Ferrari 812 GTS and Mercedes-AMG SL 63 E Performance.
Acceleration figures for the GranCabrio Folgore are impressive, clocking 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 9.1 seconds, and boasting a top speed of 290 km/h. The convertible roof can be operated at speeds of up to 50 km/h, closing in 16 seconds and opening in 14 seconds.
In terms of electric range, it’s equipped with a 92.5 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated driving range of up to 449 km (WLTP). Rapid recharging capabilities allow for 20-80 percent charge in about 18 minutes, or approximately 100 km of range in just five minutes.
Further enhancing its performance, the GranCabrio Folgore features torque vectoring for optimal handling, Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, and the option for air suspension.
However, its weight is notable, tipping the scales at 2,340 kilograms despite its nearly five-meter length. Nonetheless, with its blend of power, range, and performance features, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore stands out as a formidable addition to the electric convertible market, offering an exhilarating driving experience coupled with eco-friendly credentials.
