Jesse Iwuji, a devoted fan of the C8 Corvette and a skilled racing driver serving in the United States Navy Reserve, took his 2024 Corvette E-Ray to the Texas Motorplex drag strip for some quarter-mile challenges. His Corvette was slightly modified with drag radials for the rear axle, specifically 305/35R20 ET Street S/S drag radials from Mickey Thompson.

His first challenger was an R35 equipped with full bolt-ons, estimated to produce around 650 to 700 horsepower. Despite its power, the Nissan GT-R faced off against the lighter Corvette E-Ray, which boasted impressive acceleration figures of 2.5 seconds to 60 mph and a quarter-mile time of 10.5 seconds at 130 mph in ideal conditions. With stickier tires, Jesse’s E-Ray posted a time of 10.635 seconds at 126.87 mph.

Next up was an Aventador SuperVeloce LP 750-4, packing 750 horsepower. Although the Lamborghini closed in towards the end, it couldn’t match the E-Ray’s performance, with Jesse’s Corvette clocking 10.658 seconds at 126.21 mph.

The final challenger was the formidable Demon 170, boasting 1,025 horsepower on E85. Despite knowing he would lose, Jesse still pushed his E-Ray to another consistent 10.6 pass. While the Demon dominated at launch, Jesse’s Corvette proved its consistency on the track, hinting at even better performance under different conditions.

Dodge’s quarter-mile cap of 149 mph in non-Drag Mode hindered the Demon’s potential, while the E-Ray showcased its capabilities with a top speed of 183 mph. Despite the challenges, Jesse’s Corvette proved to be a formidable contender on the drag strip.
