Recently, the Lotus Emeya became the fastest-charging electric vehicle (EV) on the market. In a test by the management consulting company P3 Group, the Emeya charged from 10% to 80% in just 14 minutes. This test compares different EVs to see how quickly they can charge for long-distance travel.

The test included various models that are available for purchase in Asia. In the past, similar tests were done in Europe and the US. Previous winners included cars like the Lucid Air GT, Porsche Taycan, Mercedes EQS, and Kia EV6. However, the Lotus Emeya outshone them all, leaving competitors like the BMW i7 and Tesla Model Y Long Range far behind.

The test was conducted in real-world conditions, not in a lab. The vehicles were charged at public charging stations with speeds up to 400 kW. Each vehicle was preconditioned, and special equipment was used to ensure accurate charging. Charging was done from a 10% to 80% state of charge.

During the test, the Lotus Emeya reached speeds of up to 402 kW, with an average speed of 331 kW. This was much faster than its competitors. Although its charging rate decreased over time, it remained significantly higher than other cars tested.

In just 20 minutes, the Lotus Emeya added 285 miles of range. This was more than any other car in the test. Even though other cars performed well, the Lotus Emeya was the clear winner.

This test shows that EV charging is getting faster, especially as the charging network continues to grow. In the future, we can expect even faster charging times, making long-distance travel in EVs more convenient than ever before.
