In a move to streamline its naming convention and emphasize its electric future, BMW is revamping its model designations for gasoline-powered vehicles.

This overhaul applies specifically to the new lineup of the 1 Series, currently unavailable in the U.S. The revamped lineup consists of four variants, two powered by diesel engines and two utilizing gasoline.

Standing on the brink of the super hatch sector, the BMW M135 xDrive sits on the cusp of the mega hatch segment.

With Mercedes-AMG A 45 S and Audi RS 3 Sportback boasting 415 hp and 394 hp, respectively, enthusiasts yearn for a true BMW mega hatch contender.

Taking a look into what could be, digital artist Kelsonik has transformed the M135 into a widebody M1 mega hatch, hinting at an exciting potential evolution.

These illustrations might spark a fire at BMW, inspiring the creation of a new M140 xDrive or even an M1, a name that transcends the legacy of the classic M1 supercar. Crucially, such a move wouldn’t step on the toes of the M2, which utilizes a distinct platform.
