Revealed just before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Alpine A290 takes the electric hot hatch concept to a new level.

This performance-focused version of the Renault 5 E-Tech trades the previously rumored 270-hp powertrain for a more manageable setup. While competitors like the electric Lancia Ypsilon HF boast 237 horsepower, the A290 positions itself as the ultimate electric city car for the modern driver.

Built on the Renault Group’s Ampere platform and featuring bi-directional V2G charging, the A290 prioritizes both performance and environmental friendliness. Production takes place entirely in France, with the electric motor built at the Megafactory in Cleon and the battery pack coming online next year.

At under 4 meters long, the A290 boasts a compact design ideal for city driving, with styling cues that nod to both the Renault 5 E-Tech and classic Alpine design elements.

Packing a punch and a stylish exterior, the Alpine A290 is a hot hatch that takes electric performance to a new level.

Offered in a range of head-turning colors and boasting a spacious interior, it goes beyond just good looks.

With two power options and a cleverly designed sound system, the A290 caters to both performance enthusiasts and those seeking a comfortable electric drive.
