To ensure their vehicles’ safety and reliability, Mercedes-Benz has announced an expanded recall addressing an issue with faulty transmission wiring.

This comes after an initial attempt to fix the problem in April 2022, which involved modifying connectors and rerouting the wiring harness.

While the initial fix addressed the immediate concern, data from warranty claims revealed corrosion persisting in some repaired cars and similar problems in other models.

To permanently eliminate these issues, the new recall encompasses a slightly larger group of vehicles (16,967) and will involve a more comprehensive solution: a complete replacement of the faulty wiring harness.

Calling all drivers of specific Mercedes-Benz models! This includes owners of 2019-2023 AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupes, 2021-2023 GT 43 4-Door Coupes, 2019-2023 E-Class (sedan, coupe, or convertible), and 2019-2021 CLS 53s.

These performance vehicles pack a punch with their AMG SPEEDSHIFT transmissions (MCT 9G or TCT 9G) that work seamlessly with the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system for superior handling.

Here’s a quick explanation of the two transmissions: MCT provides a sportier feel with its multi-plate clutch, while TCT offers a more traditional driving experience. Both deliver smooth gear changes.
