Carlos Sainz is thinking about joining Williams or Sauber/Audi next year. Both teams really want him to sign with them for the 2025 season.
Sauber has been interested in Sainz for a while, but Williams has been trying hard recently to show Sainz that they can give him a good deal.
Sainz knows that James Vowles, the boss of Williams, really wants him to join the team. But he says that even though Williams is trying to get him, he’s not going to rush into making a decision.
Sainz said, “I appreciate James’ interest and kind words. But I haven’t made up my mind yet about where I’m going to go next year. Right now, I’m too focused on each race weekend. It’s hard to think about the future when you’re so busy with each race.”
“I’ll need some time to talk to my managers and think about what I want. But right now, I haven’t decided anything.”
When asked if he would decide before the summer break, Sainz said, “I’m not sure. I don’t know if I can wait that long or if I’ll decide earlier. I honestly don’t know right now.”
During the Monaco Grand Prix, it was revealed that Williams is talking to Sainz about joining the team as Alex Albon’s teammate for next year.
Even though Williams isn’t winning races right now, they believe they can give Sainz a good environment to do well.
James Vowles talked about why Sainz should join Williams. He said, “Williams has changed a lot in the past few years. We want two great drivers on our team. We’re investing a lot to be competitive again. We have some big changes coming in 2026, including a great new engine for our car. We have a lot of talented people joining our team. Someone like Carlos would fit in well with our plans. But it’s up to him to decide if he wants to come here.”
