Erik Jones, who drives car No. 43 for Legacy Motor Club, got hurt in a big crash during a race. At first, he went to the medical center at the track but then came back because his back was hurting.

Later, doctors found out he had a compression fracture in his back. This means his back was broken a bit, so he couldn’t race in the next event at Dover.

Erik, who’s 27 years old, said he feels okay now, but he’s not sure if he can race yet. He wants to get back in the car, but his back feels stiff, especially at night.

Another racer named Corey Heim is driving Erik’s car while he’s resting. Corey might race again next week if Erik still can’t drive. Erik’s team will decide what to do every week.

During the race at Talladega, there was a big crash. Erik’s car got hit hard and banged into the wall. Four other cars also got wrecked.

When Erik got out of the car, he said his back hurt a lot. But at first, he thought it was just muscle pain. After a while, he realized it might be something more serious. So, he went back to the medical center, and then he went to the hospital.

Erik thinks it’s lucky that his injury isn’t too bad. He says the new car, called the Next Gen car, helped keep him safe. He’ll see a doctor next week to check how he’s healing. Then, he’ll decide when he can race again.
