The number of fast charging stations in the US is growing rapidly. A recent analysis found that nearly 600 new stations came online in just the first three months of 2024 – that’s a 7.6% jump!

This means there’s now roughly one fast charging station for every 15 gas stations across the country. While Tesla Superchargers make up a good chunk of these new stations (more than a quarter, to be exact), there are plenty of other options on the way. And the best part? Tesla Superchargers that use the CCS charging standard can even tap into federal funding to help with installation. Currently, Tesla is the biggest recipient of these funds.

It’s not just big companies like Tesla that are getting involved. Retailers like Buc-ee’s and Wawa are also joining the movement, adding a total of 19 new fast charging stations in the first quarter of 2024 alone. This is on top of stations funded by the government, with the very first NEVI EV charging station in the southeastern US breaking ground in Kentucky back in February.

With so many new stations popping up, charging your electric vehicle is about to become a whole lot easier! This is a major step forward for the future of electric cars in the US.
