33-year-old YouTuber from California got sentenced to 60 days in jail on Monday

A 33-year-old YouTuber from California got sentenced to 60 days in jail on Monday. He got in trouble for posting videos of himself driving recklessly on highways just to get views. Scott Kitfield drove really fast on freeways around the San Francisco Bay Area. He even thought it was cool when the local news criticized him for it.

After he serves his time, Kitfield will have to drive only cars registered in his name and with a tracking device on them. But catching him wasn’t easy for the California Highway Patrol. They couldn’t just arrest him because of the videos he posted online. They needed proof that he was the one driving.

On July 14, 2023, the California Highway Patrol planned to arrest Kitfield. They followed him as he drove from Solano County to Concord using an aircraft. They saw him speeding at over 110 mph on Interstate 680. At one point, he even raced another car and went faster than 120 mph.

When Kitfield noticed a police car, he quickly changed lanes and got off the freeway. He drove into a neighborhood, but the police followed him. They tried to stop him, but he didn’t listen. He led them on a chase until he finally stopped and surrendered. The Solano County Sheriff’s Office helped with the arrest.

The police found Kitfield’s computer and the camera he used for his YouTube videos. They found more videos of him driving recklessly in Contra Costa and other Bay Area counties.

Thankfully, nobody got hurt during the chase. Sometimes innocent people get hurt or killed during chases like this. Kitfield was charged with some serious crimes, including reckless driving and speeding. The district attorney said he was playing with people’s lives.

Kitfield’s YouTube channel is gone now. If people remember him, it will be for being reckless, like Trevor Jacob, an Olympic snowboarder who crashed a plane on purpose for a video. He got six months in jail for it.
