Honda has given the popular Civic lineup a makeover for the year 2025. This new version has updated looks, more technology, and an important addition: a hybrid engine. Honda thinks this hybrid model will make up about 40% of all Civic sales. It shows that Honda is serious about using electric power, especially after introducing the all-electric Prologue and the hydrogen-powered CR-V e:FCEV. Let’s take a closer look at the Civic Hybrid.

This new Honda Civic Hybrid is the most powerful non-Type R Civic yet. It uses a hybrid system that combines a 2.0-liter engine with two electric motors. It’s expected to produce around 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. Honda hasn’t given specific performance numbers, but they say it’s faster than the old 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Plus, it’s estimated to get 50 miles per gallon on the EPA cycle. If you don’t want a hybrid, you can choose a regular 2.0-liter engine with 158 horsepower.

For the 2025 model, the Civic’s exterior has been subtly updated. The front now has a new grille and a sportier bumper design, while the rear lights are darker. The hybrid models have a different front bumper and colored headlight garnish. There are four trim levels available: LX, Sport, and hybrid-only Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Inside, there are updates too, especially for the hybrid models. The most exciting change is the integration of Google Built-In in the Sport Touring Hybrid trim. This means you can use Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other apps from Google Play. There’s also a three-year unlimited data plan included.

The safety features are also top-notch. All models come with the Honda Sensing safety suite, which includes features like forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. Sport trims even get blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2025 Civic Sedan will be available at dealerships next month, followed by the hatchback in the summer. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s expected to be similar to the outgoing model, which starts at $23,950 for the LX Sedan and goes up to $31,450 for the Sport Touring Hatchback.
