The Mercedes-AMG One has established itself as an automotive superhero, boasting lap records at renowned circuits like the Nürburgring and Monza.
\Currently, an opportunity to acquire this remarkable vehicle has surfaced, with Dubai-based exotic car dealer F1rst Motors setting the price at a substantial 20 million United Arab Emirates Dirham, equivalent to $5.45 million.
Despite the absence of details regarding the car’s provenance, the dealer asserts that the odometer registers zero miles. While it’s likely the mileage is minimal, the claim of absolute zero is disputable, considering the inevitable movement the car would have undergone at some point.
In true superhero fashion, Mercedes has shrouded at least one aspect of the AMG One in secrecy: its original price.
Although the exact figure has never been officially disclosed, reports estimate it to be between $2 million and $3 million – approximately half of the current asking price by the dealer.
This intriguing listing raises questions about the enforcement of Mercedes’ alleged restriction on resale, especially considering that the first deliveries began just a year ago.
Interestingly, the unavailability of the AMG One in the United States adds to its air of exclusivity. Mercedes cited the need for powertrain modifications to meet regulations that would “significantly compromise its performance” as the reason for not offering the hypercar in the U.S.
However, a determined individual in the U.S. may explore the possibility of importing an AMG One under the “show or display exemption,” which permits certain special vehicles to enter the country, provided they are limited to covering 2,500 miles annually.
While this process involves extensive paperwork, it could potentially facilitate the entry of the hypercar into the country.
The AMG One boasts a Formula One-derived powertrain featuring a 1.6-liter V6 with an electrically assisted turbocharger and four electric motors, delivering a total output of 1,049 horsepower.
The 8.4-kilowatt-hour battery prioritizes power over range, allowing the hypercar to cover only 11.2 miles on electric power alone.
Despite this, the primary focus of the AMG One lies in its impressive performance metrics – accelerating to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, reaching 124 mph in 7.0 seconds, and attaining a top speed of 219 mph, putting it in league with some of the fastest cars globally, such as the Ferrari LaFerrari and McLaren P1.
The exclusivity of ownership is highlighted by the fact that prominent F1 drivers, including Valtteri Bottas and Nico Rosberg, are among the 275 customers, with Lewis Hamilton contributing to the hypercar’s development.
