The Nigerian Police Force has provided guidance on how motorists can report their stolen vehicles through the digitalized Central Motor Registry (CMR) portal.
Motorists are advised to log in to their profiles on the CMRIS portal at https://cmris.npf.gov.ng, navigate to the Requests section, and click on the Flag if Stolen button for the specific vehicle.
This action triggers a nationwide alert to Police formations for recovery efforts and the apprehension of culprits. Additionally, motorists should visit the nearest Police Division/Station to formally report the theft, facilitating further investigation.
In a related development, the Lagos State Taskforce conducted a special operation across the state, impounding 355 motorcycles (okadas) within a five-hour period.
The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, emphasized the challenges in apprehending okada riders, stating that it is more challenging than arresting armed robbers due to the bikes’ maneuverability and the riders’ ability to escape easily.
Furthermore, the Lagos State Government, through the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), has announced the conclusion of the 25% fare discount on regulated public transport services.
Starting from January 29, 2024, transport fares for BRT buses, Blue Line trains, and other regulated services will revert to the standard rates. This decision marks the end of the six-month rebate period, initially instituted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on July 31, 2023, as a palliative measure in response to the removal of fuel subsidies.
