Maserati has undertaken a substantial revamp of its model lineup within a relatively brief span. While the Ghibli and Quattroporte have stood the test of time, and the Levante SUV can no longer be considered a newcomer, a considerable portion of Maserati’s portfolio now boasts fresh additions.
The year 2020 saw the introduction of the MC20, a super sports car, and the latest iteration of the Maserati GranTurismo. Additionally, the MC20 Cielo, an open variant of the MC20, was unveiled in 2022.
The same year witnessed the debut of the Grecale, a compact SUV sibling to the Levante. Notably, Maserati has adapted to contemporary trends by offering fully electric Folgore versions for both the Grecale and GranTurismo. And the brand’s electric endeavors won’t end there.
The anticipation of another open-top GranTurismo has been confirmed, and an electric Folgore variant is in the works for the forthcoming GranCabrio, set to hit the market later this year. Beyond this, the electric MC20, initially surrounded by silence, now has a slated release year: 2025.
Looking ahead, Maserati has ambitious plans for its electric vehicle (EV) lineup. In 2026, there appears to be a brief pause in new releases, but 2027 promises the arrival of a noteworthy addition — a new large E-SUV BEV, essentially the electric successor to the Levante, whose 11th year on the market will coincide with the launch.
The year 2028 is earmarked for yet another electric model, this time a sedan bearing the familiar moniker: Quattroporte. Meanwhile, the fate of the Ghibli at Maserati seems uncertain, at least for the foreseeable future.
A significant shift is expected from 2030 onward as Maserati commits to exclusively selling cars equipped with fully electric powertrains. Starting in 2025, every model offered by the brand is mandated to have an EV version.
The current generation of the Ghibli and Quattroporte will not see any electric Folgore variants, signaling the imminent retirement of these models in their current form, likely by next year.
