In 2019, the cycling world welcomed a new player onto the scene: Revel. Despite the industry’s saturation with established brands like Trek and Cannondale, Revel proved its mettle, as evidenced by their latest creation, the Rascal V2 (or Rascal 2).
Dubbed the “One Bike to Rule Them All” by Revel, this marvel is crafted entirely from carbon fiber, signaling a premium price tag. The standalone frame retails for $3,600 (€3,300).
Revel’s updates to the Rascal V2 signify a complete redesign, maintaining the lineage’s dynamic performance. With a slacker and longer frame compared to its predecessor, the V2 incorporates advanced carbon layup techniques, enhancing lateral stiffness while shaving off 150 grams in weight.
The Rascal V2 strikes a balance between various cycling disciplines, offering 130 mm of rear travel and compatibility with 140 mm front forks, ideal for versatile trail riding with its 29-inch wheels. A standout feature is its CBF suspension linkage, leveraging Canfield Bikes’ Canfield Balance Formula for a smoother, more efficient ride.
While the Rascal V2 boasts impressive capabilities, its hefty price tag of $6,000 (€5,500) for a complete build with SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain and RockShox components may deter casual riders.
However, for enthusiasts seeking the pinnacle of performance, the top-tier XX Eagle variant, priced at $10,500 (€9,700), offers unparalleled features including Code Ultimate brakes and a carbon fiber wheelset.
Revel offers some performance details for individuals who are interested in geometry. It has an effective seat tube angle that varies from 76 to 77 degrees, depending on frame size, and a headtube angle of 65.5 degrees for all sizes.
Making decisions is made easier when test-riding the Rascal V2 or seeing footage of expert riders using its features. When riding, never forget to put safety first and wear a helmet.
