Ford’s Bronco, a resounding success with 105,665 units sold in the US last year, faced a setback with 7,527 units recalled due to a manufacturing flaw concerning hard tops.
A newly assembled Bronco, equipped with a hard top, failed the glass cut-out adhesion test at the Michigan Assembly Plant on December 4. This anomaly prompted a thorough examination by Ford Research Laboratory, revealing an absence of clearcoat primer on the suspect rear quarter glass panels.
Investigations traced the issue to a procedural oversight during the two-stage primer application process at the sequencer facility, compounded by the introduction of new operators post-reopening in November 2023.
Ford swiftly initiated a recall, instructing dealers to inspect and reinstall affected rear quarter glass panels at no cost to owners.
While no incidents have been reported, the recall underscores Ford’s commitment to ensuring vehicle safety and quality standards. Affected owners will receive notifications by mail, facilitating prompt resolution of the manufacturing oversight.
