Alfa Romeo Introduces New Royal Blue Color for Supercar on 33 Stradale Day

Alfa Romeo has officially designated March 3 as “33 Stradale Day,” commemorating the iconic 33 Stradale supercar and the profound significance of the number 33 within the Italian automaker’s legacy.

Establishing this date as an official celebration, particularly for Alfa Romeo enthusiasts worldwide and its 250 clubs, seeks to foster a sense of unity and honor their shared passion for the Alfa Romeo brand.

In conjunction with this momentous occasion, Alfa Romeo has unveiled a new Blue Reale (royal blue) paint option, joining the existing range of base colors for the revered V6 supercar, including the classic Rosso Alfa and the deeper, more refined Rosso Villa d’Este launch hue.

A Historical Tribute

While the introduction of the Blue Reale color marks a first for the reborn 33 Stradale, it is not the model’s inaugural encounter with this distinctive shade. One of the original 10 33 Stradale sports cars from the 1960s was adorned in this striking blue hue, a rarity that resurfaced in 2020 to commemorate Alfa Romeo’s 110th anniversary.

According to Classic Driver, the exceedingly rare royal blue 33 Stradale was originally delivered to Italian aviation magnate Count Corrado Agusta, bearing chassis number 75033.111 and featuring seats reminiscent of those found in Agusta’s helicopters of that era. Presently, it resides in the collection of a prominent Swiss enthusiast.

Undoubtedly, the introduction of the Blue Reale option for the new 33 Stradale serves as a poignant homage to this legendary exemplar.

The Symbolism of “33”

Beyond its association with the illustrious 33 Stradale (limited to 33 units, all of which are spoken for), Alfa Romeo regards the number 33 as emblematic of its identity. Notably, in June 2021, precisely 33 months ago, Alfa Romeo clinched victory in the historic re-enactment of the 1000 Miglia endurance race.

Delving further into the annals of motorsport history, the year 1933 holds profound significance for Alfa Romeo. The high-performance 8C 2300 triumphed in the Mille Miglia with the legendary Nuvolari-Compagnoni duo at the helm, while Antonio Brivio secured dominance in the Targa Florio, driving the same model.

The Nuvolari-Sommer pairing secured victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans that same year, solidifying 1933 as a landmark year for Alfa Romeo on the racing circuit.
