Johnny Girroir from the Red Bull KTM off-road team secured his second consecutive victory at the 2024 GNCC series held in Palatka, Florida, over the weekend.
The Wild Boar race presented challenging conditions with rain, mud, sand, and extreme terrain. Despite worsening conditions, Girroir managed to extend his lead to an impressive 2-minute margin.
At the start of the race, Jordan Ashburn from Coastal GASGAS Factory Racing grabbed the $250 Steel City Medical Center’s XC1 Open Pro Holeshot award. Despite a crash at the first turn, Jonathan Girroir from FMF KTM Factory Racing steadily progressed towards the front of the pack.
Steward Baylor from Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki took the lead on the second lap but was closely followed by Girroir, who eventually passed him on the fourth lap and maintained his position till the finish line.
In the XC1 class, Baylor finished second, with Grant Davis from FMF KTM Factory Racing Landers securing second overall from the XC2 250 Pro class. Lyndon Snodgrass from Babbitts Online/Monster Energy/Kawasaki Team Green rounded out the top three XC1 finishers and secured fourth place overall.
Other notable performances include Coastal GASGAS Factory Racing’s Jordan Ashburn finishing fourth in XC1 and sixth overall, while JS Sherco Racing’s Josh Strang climbed back to fifth in XC1 and seventh overall.
The XC2 250 Pro class saw Grant Davis from FMF KTM Factory Racing Landers securing the victory, with Angus Riordan from FMF KTM Factory Racing Landers finishing second. Tyler Medaglia from Honda Canada/GDR/Fox Racing made a notable appearance and finished third in the XC2 class.
In the FMF XC3 125 Pro-Am class, Jhak Walker from Liqui Moly Factory Beta Racing dominated the race, securing first place.
In the morning race, Brandy Richards from FMF KTM Factory Racing Landers secured her first-ever WXC class win, while Korie Steede from Rockstar Energy Factory Husqvarna Racing finished second.
Overall, Johnny Girroir’s impressive performance at Palatka, Florida solidified his lead in the GNCC series, with the next round scheduled for March 9 and 10 in Washington, Georgia.
