The Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced a 36-hour traffic diversion at the Island-Iyana Oworo Bound carriageway, starting from 12:00 am on Wednesday 6th, as part of the ongoing repair works on the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, March 5, the State Government emphasized the need for motorists to utilize alternative routes previously provided during this period.
“In continuation of the repair works on the Third Mainland Bridge by the Federal Ministry of Works, the Lagos Island-Iyana Oworo bound lane will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12:00 am on Wednesday 6th until 12:00 noon on Thursday 7th March, 2024,” the statement read.
Motorists are advised to use the alternative routes during this closure. However, the Iyana-Oworo inwards island-bound carriageway will remain open to motorists heading to the Island during this period. The traffic diversion arrangements initially implemented on the bridge will resume after the 36-hour closure.
Expressing gratitude to Lagosians for their patience and understanding, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, appealed for continued cooperation with the Traffic Management Officials deployed to the Axis to minimize discomfort during this period of closure.
