Rivian R2 Teased Again Alongside Detailed Specification Leak

Rivian offers a glimpse of its upcoming electric SUV, the R2, through a teaser image of its rear end shared via X. Simultaneously, detailed specifications of the new crossover have seemingly been leaked by a Rivian owner and enthusiast named Chris Hilbert, divulging information regarding its base MSRP, range, acceleration figures, seating capacity, dimensions, and even approach and departure angles.

Starting with the price, reportedly set at $47,500, it aligns with CEO RJ Scaringe’s previous proclamation that the R2 would fall within the $40,000-$60,000 range. This pricing strategy persists despite challenges from the previous year expected to extend into 2024.

Leaked Performance Specifications

Additional specifications disclosed in the tweet include an estimated range of up to 330 miles and a remarkable 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds. The dimensions are also provided, indicating the R2’s length at 185.6 inches, width at 75 inches (excluding mirrors; 84.4 inches with mirrors), and height at 66.9 inches.

Reportedly boasting a maximum ground clearance of 9.8 inches and equipped with 32-inch tires, the R2 is purported to feature a 25-degree approach angle and a departure angle of 27°. Although the breakover angle remains undisclosed, it is anticipated that Mr. Scaringe will reveal these specifications upon the R2’s official unveiling in two days.

R2 Styling

Initial impressions suggest that the R2 will closely resemble its predecessor, the R1S. The latest teaser image unveils a full-width taillight bar and a black roof, echoing familiar R1 styling cues observed in previous teasers of the vehicle’s front end.

It is anticipated that the cabin design will also mirror that of the R1, considering its well-received aesthetics.

The public debut of the new R2 is scheduled for March 7, coinciding with Rivian’s commencement of reservations with fully refundable deposits.

Furthermore, anticipation builds for more insights into Rivian’s future product lineup, with plans to introduce six new models by 2025.
