In the realm of ultra-luxury automotive manufacturers, certain brands stand out for their exotic offerings. Despite their usual disparity, Rolls-Royce and Ferrari find themselves in competition with their super-SUVs.

A decade ago, the idea of brands like Aston Martin, Maserati, Bentley, and Lamborghini producing crossover SUVs seemed improbable. Yet today, models like the DBX, Levante, Bentayga, and Urus dominate their respective companies’ sales charts.

However, the top tier of luxury SUVs, until Bentley’s entry, was occupied by the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Ferrari Purosangue.

Although traditionally catering to different clientele—Rolls-Royce emphasizing comfort and Ferrari focusing on performance—their recent offerings share commonalities. Both feature V12 engines and rear-hinged coach doors, albeit without being direct rivals.

While the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has evolved into a luxury off-roader, it’s not typically compared to the Cullinan or Purosangue due to its distinct characteristics. Yet aftermarket companies have seized the opportunity to enhance its appeal.

Recently, German tuner Hofele unveiled the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Coach Door Edition, also known as the HG63, addressing the desire for distinctive modifications.

Following suit, Mansory, renowned for its extravagant creations, introduced the ‘Grande Entree’ special edition, enhancing the G 63 with rear-hinged coach doors and luxurious features.

These modifications, coupled with a power increase to 850 horsepower, transform the off-roader into a bespoke luxury vehicle capable of impressive performance. Would you opt for the fresh coach door look?
