McLaren Expands Their Trophy One Race Series To North America

McLaren has announced its expansion of the McLaren Trophy one-make race series to North America, marking its debut on Thursday. Initially launched in Europe last year, the series showcases dedicated race cars based on the Artura and former 570S supercar models.

Set to kick off its inaugural season in 2025, the North American edition, dubbed McLaren Trophy America, will feature 10 races spread across five weekends. Race locations will be disclosed later this year. Each event will last for 50 minutes and entail mandatory pit stops for driver changes.

While the Artura Trophy race car will take center stage in McLaren Trophy America, teams currently participating with the 570S Trophy in Europe will have the opportunity to compete in the North American series using the older model.

These Trophy versions of McLaren supercars maintain close specifications to their road-car counterparts but incorporate modifications in aerodynamics, powertrain, and safety.

Positioned between GT4 and GT3 race cars in terms of performance, the Artura Trophy version is powered solely by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, generating 577 hp after the removal of the road car’s plug-in hybrid system.

The series will feature multiple classes catering to both amateur (AM) and professional (Pro) drivers. An AM class will exclusively accommodate amateur drivers, while a Pro-Am class will pair amateur drivers with professionals.

Similar to its European counterpart, the North American series will exclusively welcome independent teams. Nonetheless, McLaren Customer Racing will provide technical support and replacement parts at each round.
