Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce its first all-electric minivan to the United States market in 2026, marking the debut of the successor to the all-electric EQV model.

As confirmed by company officials speaking to WardsAuto, the third-generation minivan will be reintroduced to the US market under the name V-Class, foregoing the EQV nomenclature used in European markets.

This new model will be based on the upcoming VAN.EA platform is known for its modular and scalable design, enabling Mercedes-Benz to create a diverse range of vans with varying shapes and sizes using the same foundation.

Scheduled to launch alongside the new V-Class are commercial and luxury van variants in 2026, offering customers a wide array of choices across different price segments.

The third-generation V-Class is expected to offer single and dual motor configurations, two battery size options, and a selection of rear- or all-wheel drive systems. Customers will have the flexibility to choose from various seating arrangements to suit their preferences.

Mercedes-Benz aims to position the electric V-Class as a premium offering, catering to upscale clientele in the US market. Sales of the V-Class have remained robust in Europe and Asia, particularly among buyers seeking premium minivan options.

While recent styling updates focused on enhancing the interior with features like MBUX and advanced technologies, the forthcoming electric V-Class promises to deliver a more sophisticated driving experience.

Notably, the current V-Class will continue to be offered with diesel and gasoline powertrains until the end of the decade, receiving additional updates during this transition period. Models destined for the US market will be manufactured at Mercedes-Benz’s facility in Vitoria, Spain.

The electric V-Class is based on the VAN.EA-P platform (privately positioned), is expected to target private customers, VIPs, and high-end establishments such as luxury hotels.

Mercedes-Benz aims to achieve an electric range of approximately 310 miles and plans to incorporate Level 2 self-driving technology, with potential deployment of Level 3 autonomous driving features in certain regions of the USA, initially in S-Class and EQS models.

In the interim, Mercedes-Benz customers seeking spacious and luxurious transportation options can explore the GLS-Class SUV, while the brand has also expanded its electric offerings with the launch of the all-electric eSprinter commercial van.
