Recently spotted undergoing testing in Dearborn, the 2025 Ford Maverick has been caught by spy photographers, providing a sneak peek at the upcoming updates to this popular model. Despite its already strong appeal, Ford seems to be gearing up for enhancements, particularly in the realm of technology, with the Maverick.
The prototypes seen during testing suggest that Ford is focusing on refining rather than reinventing the Maverick’s successful formula. While the exterior changes expected in a mid-cycle refresh are cleverly concealed, it’s evident that updates to front and rear bumpers, as well as lighting elements, are likely in the works.
The silver truck, seemingly a well-equipped street model, possibly a Lariat, showcases a robust interior package. Positioned beside a 2024 Maverick Tremor, also based on the Lariat, significant portions of the prototype’s interior remain concealed under camouflage.
However, it’s evident that a larger screen now occupies the space previously occupied by a cubby atop the center stack, while the wheel and controls appear unchanged. The other two prototypes likely represent an off-road trim, potentially the refreshed Tremor, and a test mule for advanced safety or autonomous driving technology.
The former sports new Goodyear Territory RT tires, hinting at a potential change in tire supplier or an upgraded off-road trim in development. The latter, equipped with various electronic features, could serve as a testbed for Ford’s Blue Cruise technology or a new camera/blind spot system designed for towing.
The presence of radar or lidar sensors at the corners and door-mounted cameras suggests functionality aimed at monitoring or redundancy, resembling the setup seen on Ford’s updated Super Duty.
While the inclusion of towing-focused technology would be beneficial for a versatile vehicle like the Maverick, its limited towing capacity might restrict practical applications.
