Malaysia Airlines has selected Collins Aerospace to provide avionics hardware support for its fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, coinciding with the carrier’s reception of these narrowbody jets.
Under the new agreement, Malaysia Airlines, amid its fleet expansion and introduction of new aircraft types, has opted for Collins Aerospace to furnish critical communications, navigation, and surveillance systems, as well as air data sensors for its 737 MAX 8 fleet. Collins will extend its services to include maintenance, asset management, and logistical support.
Craig Bries, Vice President and General Manager of Avionics Sales, Marketing, and Aftermarket Services at Collins Aerospace, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that Malaysia Airlines’ 737-8 fleet would benefit from reliable navigation and guidance solutions, enhancing operational efficiency and accuracy.
Presently, Malaysia Airlines has commenced operations with three Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with an average age of four months. The airline awaits the delivery of 22 more 737 MAX 8 narrowbody jets, expecting to receive at least eight in 2024.
This strategic move to integrate 25 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft into its fleet aligns with Malaysia Airlines’ broader growth strategy and modernization plans aimed at fortifying its market presence and competitiveness in the evolving aviation landscape.
