The much-anticipated and budget-friendly variant of the new-gen Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe family has arrived: the GT 43.
Following the footsteps of its open-top counterpart, the latest Mercedes-AMG SL 43 Roadster, the GT 43 Coupe shares a similar recipe: a 2.0L four-cylinder engine with an electric exhaust gas turbo inspired by F1 technology.
Mercedes-AMG claims the powertrain delivers 416 hp (421 ps/310 kW) at 6,750 rpm and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque at 3,250-5,000 rpm, outperforming the SL 43. The entry-level roadster matches the A 45 hot hatch in power, while the base coupe equals the A 45 S.
With an estimated 0-60 mph (97 kph) time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph (280 kph), the GT 43 surpasses the SL 63 and features rear-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission with AMG Dynamic Select offering various driving modes.
Externally, the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 43 stands out with distinct features compared to the V8-powered GT 55 and GT 63, including a revised bumper, narrower fenders, and round double tailpipes. It rides on 19-inch alloys and offers optional AMG Exterior Chrome Package, AMG Night Package, and AMG Night Package II for a striking appearance.
Inside, it retains the 2+2 seating layout and features an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Nappa leather upholstery, various trim options, and an optional AMG Performance steering wheel. Pricing details for the U.S. market are pending, but given the SL 63’s MSRP of $109,900, the GT 43 is expected to start around $100,000.
