Carlos Sainz’s participation in the upcoming Australian Grand Prix remains pending final confirmation. The Ferrari driver, recovering from appendicitis surgery that sidelined him for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, is expected to return to racing this weekend.

Despite observing Ollie Bearman’s remarkable performance in Jeddah, Sainz appeared to be recovering cautiously, prompting speculation about his readiness for future races.

Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, indicated that the team would await Sainz’s arrival in Melbourne before making an official decision on his involvement.

Recent reports from Marca suggest a positive development as Sainz was spotted at the Melbourne airport, displaying improved spirits compared to his condition ten days ago. Sainz is set to undergo an FIA fitness assessment to ascertain his fitness for the Australian GP, where he aims to build on his strong start to the season.

Despite being out-qualified by his teammate Charles Leclerc, Sainz impressed with a podium finish at the Bahrain GP, highlighting his competitiveness. Sainz’s future beyond the 2024 season remains uncertain, as he is set to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion.
