During Formula E’s recent event in Brazil, the Maserati MSG driver showcased a promising pace in both practice and qualifying sessions. However, a setback occurred before the race, necessitating a change in the gearbox and inverter components on his Gen3 machine.
This led to a significant 40-place grid penalty. Despite qualifying third, the German driver had to serve a 10-second stop/go penalty during the race due to the inability to fulfill the full punishment. Despite the challenges, Guenther managed to secure a ninth-place finish, benefitting from strategic opportunities during safety car periods.
Reflecting on the situation, Guenther indicated that the decision to change parts was primarily driven by performance considerations rather than damage. Although he trails the championship leader by 35 points, Guenther remains optimistic about the team’s potential, emphasizing the positive momentum and improvements in car performance.
