Volkswagen’s Cupra brand is set to make its debut in the United States before the decade’s end, introducing electric models tailored to American preferences. The lineup will include the electric Formentor and a larger model produced in North America, aligning with consumer demand and qualifying for EV tax credits.
During an annual media conference in Barcelona, Cupra’s CEO confirmed the brand’s entry into selected states on the East and West coasts, as well as the Sun Belt states. The distribution strategy remains undisclosed, leaving open the possibility of online sales or partnerships with existing dealership networks.
While focusing on European launches, including the electric Tavascan and Terramar crossover, Cupra anticipates expanding its global footprint. Transitioning into a standalone EV-focused brand in 2018, Cupra aims to meet American demands with its sporty and electrified lineup.
