Mazda is taking proactive steps to address concerns raised by owners and media regarding the suspension and transmission of its CX-60 SUV. In response to feedback about the stiff ride and transmission refinement issues, Mazda is providing complimentary fixes for these components, aiming to enhance the driving experience for CX-60 owners.
The initiative includes a suspension upgrade, with a revised rear shock absorber being implemented in new builds from October 2023 onwards to improve ride quality. Owners of vehicles manufactured between March 28 and September 30, 2023, are offered the opportunity to have their vehicles aligned with the latest factory specification, all at no expense through Mazda’s dealer network.
Furthermore, Mazda is offering a complimentary update of the CX-60’s Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software to the latest calibration. This update addresses concerns related to the eight-speed automatic transmission’s performance, particularly its jerkiness at low speeds and refinement issues. By combining the engine control unit (ECU) and transmission control unit (TCU), Mazda aims to optimize throttle response and smooth out shifting behavior.
The decision to implement these upgrades stems from ongoing assessments of the CX-60 and a thorough review of customer feedback. While the CX-60’s innovative electrified powertrains offer benefits such as improved fuel efficiency and enhanced throttle response, Mazda acknowledges the need to address certain calibration issues affecting transmission performance.
Feedback from owners and automotive media alike has underscored the importance of these upgrades. Concerns regarding ride quality and transmission behavior have prompted Mazda to take swift action to improve the CX-60’s driving experience. While there are no plans to extend these changes to the larger CX-90 SUV, Mazda remains committed to refining its products based on customer input.
The CX-60’s sales performance reflects its popularity in the market, with 2779 units registered in 2023. However, recent figures indicate a slowdown in sales, prompting Mazda to prioritize customer satisfaction and product improvement. CX-60 owners are encouraged to share their experiences with these upgrades, and Mazda welcomes feedback to ensure continuous enhancement of its vehicles.
