Maserati Reveals Track-Only MCXtrema Variant Of MC20 Supercar

Maserati is set to introduce a high-performance, track-exclusive iteration of its MC20 supercar, dubbed the MCXtrema, with a limited production run of only 62 units. First revealed during the 2023 Monterey Car Week, the MCXtrema is currently undergoing final track testing before deliveries commence in late summer.

Unlike its road-legal counterpart, the MCXtrema is designed exclusively for track use, devoid of any street-legal certifications or adherence to racing regulations. Maserati intends to provide a comprehensive suite of services for future owners through its MCXperience program, including driver coaching courses, track experiences, and logistical support.

Furthermore, Maserati will offer customization options under the MCXlusiva program, allowing owners to personalize their vehicles. Owners can choose from pre-defined options or opt for bespoke customization, known as Beastspoke, enabling them to select their racing number and accent colors for the cabin.

The MCXtrema boasts a carbon-fiber body enveloping the same Dallara-developed carbon tub utilized in the MC20, reinforced with an FIA-homologated roll cage. Powering the MCXtrema is the familiar twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine from the MC20, tuned to produce an impressive 730 horsepower, an upgrade from the MC20’s 621 horsepower. Key enhancements include new turbos and enhanced performance.

Notable features include a 6-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, adjustable aerodynamics and suspension, lightweight Lexan windows, Brembo brakes, and 18-inch forged wheels with center locks.

Production of the MCXtrema will be overseen by Maserati’s Fuoriserie personalization department, which could potentially explore additional low-volume projects, including bespoke one-off creations. The MCXtrema follows in the footsteps of Maserati’s previous track-only supercar, the MC12 Versione Corse, of which only 12 units were ever produced.
