Kia America announced a recall affecting 427,407 Telluride units due to a potential safety issue related to the intermediate shaft and right front driveshaft. The recall, prompted by reports of rollaway incidents while in the park, involves vehicles produced between 2020 and 2024.

The root cause was identified as improper assembly by the supplier, Mobis Alabama. Kia addressed the issue by inspecting and ensuring full engagement of driveshaft assemblies in vehicles manufactured after October 20, 2023.

Customer complaints led to a thorough investigation by Kia, identifying spline wear on certain shafts, which could lead to unintended vehicle movement. Consequently, Kia decided to recall affected Telluride models to prevent potential accidents or injuries.

The remedy includes updating the electronic parking brake software and inspecting driveshafts for any damage, with affected owners notified accordingly.
