Hyundai is making a bold statement in motorsports with its latest creation: a race car based on the recently released 2025 Ioniq 5 N high-performance electric compact crossover. Revealed in Seoul, South Korea, over the weekend, the all-new Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup is set to join the Hyundai N Festival one-make racing series as early as this year, showcasing the brand’s commitment to electric racing.
Designed for the new eN1 class alongside the existing N1 class for gas-powered cars, the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup offers drivers an electrifying racing experience. While all competitors will pilot the same car, there’s room for individual customization, including tire selection, providing an added layer of excitement to the races.
Sharing its powertrain with the road-going Ioniq 5 N, the race car boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, delivering an impressive 641 hp. Equipped with an 84-kwh battery, the race car promises thrilling performance.
Although specific range details for racing conditions have yet to be disclosed. However, the road version is anticipated to offer nearly 300 miles on a single charge under normal driving conditions.
In preparation for the rigors of racing, the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup undergoes significant enhancements in aerodynamics, chassis dynamics, and safety features. Sporting a lowered suspension with adjustable ride height, dampers, and camber, the race car ensures optimal handling on the track. Enhanced braking performance is achieved with upgraded brakes featuring 6-piston calipers up front and 4-piston calipers at the rear, housed within 18-inch light alloy wheels fitted with racing slicks.
Despite its racing modifications, the vehicle maintains a weight of approximately 4,343 pounds, ensuring agility and speed on the race track. The action-packed 2024 season of the Hyundai N Festival is set to commence at Korea’s Inje Speedium on April 27. With dedicated practice sessions and thrilling knockout races, the eN1 class promises to electrify audiences and showcase the future of electric motorsports.
