The 2025 model year sees the introduction of the second-generation Trax, featuring a notable update in its powertrain configuration. Departing from the LIH EcoTec 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine of its predecessor, the 2025 Chevrolet Trax upgrades to the LBP EcoTec 1.2-liter turbo engine.
In terms of power output, both engine variants generate 137 horsepower at 5,000 revolutions per minute and 162 pound-feet (219 Nm) at 2,500 revolutions per minute. However, the LBP engine distinguishes itself by its compatibility with the E85 ethanol-gasoline blend. This powerplant, shared with the Buick Encore GX, represents a notable enhancement over the previous model.
The order guide for the 2025 Chevrolet Trax reveals a selection of eight paint colors, down from the previous ten. Notable additions include Marina Blue Metallic and Nitro Yellow Metallic, each retailing at $395. Additionally, a new no-cost paint option named Cypress Gray debuts for the 2025 model year.
Exclusive to front-wheel drive, the Trax is equipped with a torque-converter automatic transmission featuring six forward ratios. EPA ratings for the 2025 model indicate a combined fuel efficiency of 30 miles per gallon with gasoline and 22 miles per gallon with E85.
The adoption of flex-fuel brings advantages such as higher octane content and cleaner combustion, but also drawbacks including reduced energy per gallon and ethanol’s corrosive properties. General Motors offers five trim levels for the 2025 Trax, with prices ranging from $21,495 for the LS to $25,395 for the 2RS and ACTIV grades.
Key optional packages include the LS Convenience Package and LT Convenience Package, priced at $995 and $595, respectively, adding features such as heated front seats, power-adjustable mirrors, and remote start.
Manufactured in South Korea at the GM Korea-operated Changwon plant, the Trax witnessed a substantial increase in sales in 2023, with 109,382 units delivered in the United States. This marked a significant 311.3 percent rise compared to the 26,597 units sold in 2022, reflecting its growing popularity in the market.
