When thinking about McLaren, various models come to mind. The iconic F1, the modern 720S, the successor 750S, and the controversial yet impressive Senna all hold significant places in the brand’s lineup. Among these is the MP4-12C, produced at McLaren’s factory in Woking from 2011 to 2014.

The MP4-12C shared numerous components with its successor, the 650S, as well as the P1 hybrid hypercar. McLaren offered it in two body styles, Coupe and Convertible, both featuring a mid-engine and rear-wheel-drive layout and V8 power with forced induction.

Staying true to McLaren’s tradition, the MP4-12C proved to be faster than advertised. Although McLaren claimed a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint time of 3.1 seconds, several examples achieved times of 2.9 and even 2.8 seconds. The fixed-roof variant boasted a top speed of 207 mph (351 kph), while the convertible reached 204 mph (329 kph).

Powering the MP4-12C was a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 616 horsepower (625 ps/460 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 443 pound-foot (600 Nm) of torque from 3,000 to 7,000 rpm. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission routed power to the rear axle.

Despite being out of production for nearly a decade, the McLaren MP4-12C remains noteworthy. A recent listing caught attention, initially priced at $97,900 but reduced to $89,900 due to lack of buyer interest.

This places it in the same price range as the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which boasts comparable performance figures. However, the MP4-12C offers a unique driving experience, with its distinct British design, red interior, and impeccable history with a clean Carfax title. With around 40,000 miles (~64,000 km) on the odometer, this MP4-12C is ready for its next owner to enjoy.
