GWM has once again solidified its position as the leader in affordable electric vehicles in Australia by significantly reducing the prices across its electric Ora lineup. With these price adjustments, the Ora hatchback stands out as the country’s cheapest electric car, offering remarkable value to eco-conscious consumers.
The Chinese automaker has introduced new nationwide drive-away pricing for the Ora range, starting at an enticing $35,990 drive-away for the Standard Range. This marks a substantial $4000 reduction from the previous price before on-road costs. Particularly noteworthy is the savings of up to $6510 compared to the previous drive-away price of up to $42,500 in Victoria.
In addition to the Standard Range, GWM has also lowered the prices of other Ora variants. The Extended Range now starts at $40,990 drive-away, down from $45,990 before on-roads. Similarly, the Ultra and GT models have received significant price cuts of $5000, bringing them to $43,990 and $46,990 drive-away, respectively.
These revised prices apply to vehicles ordered and delivered by June 30, 2024. GWM attributes these price reductions to favorable exchange rates, allowing the brand to offer exceptional value to Australian consumers.
The Ora lineup represents GWM’s commitment to providing accessible electric mobility, with the company exploring the possibility of introducing plug-in hybrid models in the future.
Earlier this year, GWM offered discounts of up to $4000 across Ora models ordered and delivered before March 31, reclaiming its position as Australia’s cheapest electric vehicle. Despite competition from MG and BYD, GWM’s aggressive pricing strategy ensures that the Ora remains unmatched in affordability.
The Ora boasts a front-mounted electric motor generating 126kW of power and 250Nm of torque. It is available with either a 48kWh lithium iron phosphate or a 63kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery, offering impressive WLTP ranges of up to 420km.
With a lineup starting from $35,990 for the Standard Range model and extending to $46,990 for the GT variant, all offered at drive-away prices, GWM ensures transparency and accessibility for potential buyers, further solidifying its position as a leader in the electric vehicle market.
