Ford revealed significant upgrades for the 2024 Mustang Mach-E, enhancing its performance and convenience features. The latest improvements include a new rear electric motor that extends the Mach-E’s range to a maximum of 320 miles on a full battery. Additionally, charging times have been significantly reduced, making the Mustang EV SUV even more practical.
The highlight of the 2024 Mustang Mach-E upgrades is the introduction of a new rear motor across the lineup, which contributes to the extended range. Developed in-house by Ford, this lighter motor is designed to enhance torque delivery. For instance, the Select model equipped with the standard-range battery and single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup now offers a range of 250 miles.
On the other hand, the rear-wheel-drive Premium model with the extended-range battery boasts an impressive EPA-estimated range of 320 miles. Ford emphasizes these figures as a notable improvement over the previous model year, with an increase of 20 miles. However, it’s worth noting that the 2023 model already saw improvements in range due to changes in battery chemistry.
Moreover, Ford has significantly reduced charging times across the Mach-E lineup. Models with the extended-range battery can now charge from 10 to 80 percent in just over 36 minutes, while those with the standard-range battery achieve the same charge level in just over 32 minutes. This represents a reduction of almost nine and six minutes, respectively, compared to previous charging times.
Notably, Mustang Mach-E owners can now access the Tesla Supercharger network with an adapter for added convenience. The 2024 Mach-E GT lineup sees a reconfiguration with the discontinuation of the GT Performance model. Instead, Ford now offers a Performance Upgrade package, providing an impressive boost of 100 pound-feet of torque.
This enhancement allows the most potent version of the Mustang Mach-E to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 114 mph. The Performance Upgrade also includes innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms to optimize performance. This package comes standard on the off-road-oriented Rally model and can be added to the Mach-E GT either at the time of purchase or later.
In addition to the changes in the GT lineup, the standard GT model receives more standard equipment, including Ford Performance front seats, Brembo front brake calipers, and magnetorheological dampers. The introduction of the new rear motor across the lineup also results in a range increase of 10 miles for the Mach-E GT and 265 miles for the Rally model.
Ford has also refined the interface of the 15.5-inch center touchscreen, making it easier to access important information with new button icons. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard features, while Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driver assistance technology is offered on every Mach-E. The 2024 Mustang Mach-E lineup starts at $41,890 for the Select trim, with pricing varying depending on the trim level and optional features.
