The team surprised Harvey on his 31st birthday with a special gift: his name stamped on the car for the Long Beach race, revealed through social media on a Monday morning. Originally set for 14 races excluding Long Beach, the Indianapolis 500, and Toronto, Harvey’s schedule now extends to 15 races, including Long Beach, where he’ll pilot the No. 18 Honda on the 1.968-mile temporary street circuit.
Nolan Siegel, also a full-time driver with HMD Motorsports in Indy NXT, was initially slated for the No. 18 entry at Long Beach but will now switch to the No. 51 sister car with Rick Ware Racing. Siegel, a rookie who debuted at The Thermal Club last month, will only participate in two more races after Long Beach to maintain rookie eligibility for 2025, avoiding clashes with his Indy NXT commitments.
Jack Harvey, with 80 IndyCar starts, began his season with DCR at the Streets of St. Petersburg, qualifying 27th and finishing 19th. Since then, he’s been actively involved with the team, mentoring Siegel and Colin Braun, a sports car ace making his IndyCar debut with the team. Harvey’s presence within the team has been notable, as he offers coaching and guidance to his teammates.
The team’s lineup saw another change with Katherine Legge joining as the driver for the No. 51 Honda at the Indy 500. Legge, who raced in her third Indy 500 last year, previously drove for DCR during the 2007 Champ Car season, achieving two top-10 finishes, including a sixth-place finish at the Vegas Grand Prix. Her addition adds experience and depth to the team’s roster for the prestigious race.
With Harvey leading the majority of DCR’s scheduled races, the team’s dynamic includes a rotation of teammates. This flexibility allows for strategic adjustments and offers opportunities for emerging talents like Siegel while also integrating seasoned drivers like Legge into the mix for key events like the Indy 500, enriching the team’s competitive potential and fostering a collaborative environment.
