The 2025 GMC Yukon is making its way to Australian roads, marking General Motors’ return to the full-sized SUV segment in the country. With its local launch imminent, the updated Yukon Denali has been teased, promising a fresh take on the American favorite.

Jess Bala, Managing Director of GM Australia and New Zealand, revealed exciting details about the Yukon’s journey to Australian shores. “The GMC Yukon has arrived at Premoso [GMSV’s Melbourne factory], signaling the start of the remanufacturing process,” said Bala. “With the camouflage now off, we’re ready to conduct extensive right-hand-drive development and testing on local roads.”

While the full details of the updated Yukon are yet to be revealed, teaser images released by GMC offer a sneak peek of what’s to come. The SUV sports a camouflage-clad right-hand drive configuration, hinting at subtle design revisions such as restyled tail light clusters and squared-off exhaust outlets.

Changes to the front end, including slimmer headlights and an updated grille, add to the Yukon’s refreshed appearance. Inside, an upgraded interior is anticipated, featuring a larger, portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen. Derived from the Chevrolet Tahoe, the Yukon boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 5334mm long, 2057mm wide (excluding mirrors), and 1943mm tall on a 3071mm wheelbase.

While the Yukon XL variant, akin to the Chevy Suburban, hasn’t been confirmed for Australia, it offers even more spacious accommodations. Under the hood, the Yukon Denali currently offers a choice between a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter petrol V8 engine and an optional 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline six-cylinder engine, both paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Towing capacity in the US stands at up to 8200 lbs (3719kg), depending on the specification. Safety features abound in the Yukon Denali, with standard offerings including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist. The top-tier Denali Ultimate model promotes luxury with additional amenities such as a semi-automatic parking assist, massaging front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The arrival of the updated Yukon marks GMC’s introduction to the Australian market, expanding General Motors’ presence alongside Chevrolet-branded products in GMSV showrooms. With its rich heritage and robust capabilities, the Yukon sets the stage for a new chapter in Australia’s SUV Industry.
