Nissan has taken the wraps off the refreshed Qashqai SUV for the European market, showcasing a stunning design and advanced features. The Qashqai, known as the Rogue Sport in the U.S. from 2017 to 2022, receives a significant facelift with this latest iteration, although it won’t be making a return to American shores.
Despite its absence, the new Qashqai’s bold aesthetics are turning heads. The exterior design features angular lines and a wide hexagonal grille inspired by ancient Japanese armor scales. The LED headlights, with their triangular shape and thin daytime running lights, add a touch of aggression to the front end.
The rear retains its familiar shape but receives updated taillights with fresh graphic elements. Nissan introduces the N-Design trim, enhancing the Qashqai’s appearance with body-colored rear bumpers and distinctive 20-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin exudes luxury, especially in higher trim levels where Alcantara adorns the dashboard, door panels, and center console.
The gear selector trim features an eye-catching pattern, echoed on the dash, while top-tier models boast partially quilted leather seats. Ambient lighting and an “invisible hood view” display on the touchscreen further promote the interior experience. Under the hood, the Qashqai offers two mild-hybrid options with a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering either 138 or 157 horsepower.
These engines are mated to either a six-speed manual or a CVT transmission. Additionally, the lineup includes a full-hybrid “E-Power” variant, combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-three engine with a potent 188-hp electric motor and a 1.8-kWh battery.
While the Qashqai’s performance may not be groundbreaking, the E-Power hybrid system could be a valuable addition to Nissan’s U.S. lineup. Moreover, the SUV’s sleek and modern design language would undoubtedly make a statement on American roads.
