This is a rare move we’ve never seen before. Last year, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) sold more than 10,000 tickets for this year’s U.S. Grand Prix happening from October 18th to 20th. The tickets were early bird three-day passes priced at $299 each. Now, COTA wants to buy those tickets back from buyers for $350 each. They plan to resell them for an even higher price after announcing this year’s musical act.

COTA hosts concerts on the Friday and Saturday of the race weekend, often featuring two big musical acts. In the past, they had Green Day and Ed Sheeran in 2022, and Queen and Adam Lambert in 2023. After selling last year’s early tickets, COTA locked in an artist or band for this year that they believe will attract a lot of music fans — and they want to charge more than $299 for those tickets.

They will reveal the act on April 29th, and the offer to buy back tickets is open until May 6th. However, ticket holders have time to sell their tickets through other means to make more than the $60 profit offered by COTA. The new ticket price will stay below $400, likely at $399.

As for the artist, COTA hasn’t given any hints except to say it’s someone as big as Taylor Swift, if not bigger. While Swift is busy with her Eras Tour, which includes dates in December 2024, it’s unlikely she’ll perform at COTA again. Other possibilities include vintage acts like Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, or Madonna, who are touring this year.

But the most probable choice, though still uncertain, is Beyoncé. Her new album, “Cowboy Carter,” has Texas themes, and she has ties to Houston, just a few hours away from Austin.

We’ll know in a few days who will perform at COTA, and it’s anyone’s guess. Will it be Nickelback? We’ll have to wait and see.
