Meet The All-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz G580 With EQ Technology, The First-ever Electric G-Class

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the all-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, marking the debut of the first fully electric variant of its renowned G-Class SUV. The electric G-Class maintains the iconic boxy design that has defined its gas-powered predecessors over the years.

Equipped with a high-voltage lithium-ion battery boasting a usable capacity of 116.0 kWh, the electric G-Class offers a range of up to 473 kilometers (294 miles). Fast-charging capabilities allow for a 10-80 percent battery charge in just 32 minutes, although official EPA-rated driving range figures have yet to be released.

The G 580 with EQ Technology features four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels, each generating 145 horsepower, resulting in a total output of 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain enables the electric G-Class to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 4.4 seconds, with a top speed capped at 112 mph.

In terms of off-road capability, the electric G-Class is equipped with selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction and innovative driving functions tailored for off-road use, such as the G-TURN, G-STEERING, and an intelligent off-road crawl function.

Inside, the electric G-Class inherits the interior design elements from the recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz G-Class, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a multifunction steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather. Optional comfort-enhancing features include temperature-controlled cupholders and a wireless charging system for mobile devices, along with two fully integrated 11.6-inch touch displays for rear-seat passengers.

The pricing for the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology starts at $153,000, while a limited-edition model, known as the EDITION ONE, will be available starting at $206,000. This electric variant represents a significant step forward in the evolution of the G-Class, combining its legendary off-road prowess with cutting-edge electric propulsion technology.
