Genesis, the luxury South Korean automaker, is making waves both at the ongoing Auto China 2024 event in China and domestically in South Korea with their latest offerings.
The 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, known as Auto China 2024, is currently underway (from April 25 to May 4) at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. Genesis, the South Korean luxury brand under Hyundai, is keen to grab the spotlight alongside competitors like Lexus, Cadillac, and BMW.
At the Auto China event, Genesis revealed the Genesis G80 EV Magma concept, hinting at potential competition with the Tesla Model S (Plaid), Porsche Taycan, and Lucid Air. Meanwhile, back at home, Genesis didn’t miss a beat. They revealed the refreshed Genesis GV70 compact premium crossover SUV, providing the first look and details.
For those aware, the 2025 Genesis GV70 is already available in America, starting at a base MSRP of $45,700 for the gasoline version, slightly up from the 2024 model. Notably, changes are subtle, with a new wheel design being the most apparent alteration. However, discerning between the pre-facelift 2025 GV70 and the redesigned version set to launch in South Korea in May 2024 requires a keen eye.
Inside, the “Beauty of White Space” meets advanced technology, featuring a 27-inch OLED display seamlessly integrating the instrument cluster and infotainment system. However, the touch-based heating and air-cooling system may raise eyebrows, considering the ongoing preference for traditional buttons and knobs.
Alongside these subtle changes, Genesis introduced the GV70 Sport package, which includes various enhancements such as a dual-layer G-Matrix Crest Grille, larger air intakes, fresh 21-inch dark metallic wheels, and exclusive dark-chrome accents. The interior boasts a D-shaped steering wheel and orange-color stitching for added flair.
