Goodyear just released a new kind of tire designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). They call it the ElectricDrive 2, and it’s supposed to address two things EV drivers care most about: a quiet ride and good grip on wet roads.

They have special foam inserts that help dampen noise from the road, making your electric car even quieter inside. The tread pattern is designed to give your car more grip on wet pavement, which is important for safety. Because EVs are heavier than gas-powered cars, they can wear out tires faster. Goodyear says their new tires are built to last longer.

The design of these tires helps reduce drag, which can slightly improve the range of your electric car. Goodyear is making these tires with at least 50% sustainable materials, which is good for the environment.

The ElectricDrive 2 tires are already available in the US and come in sizes that fit many popular electric car models, including Tesla, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Chevy Bolt, Audi e-tron, and more.

So, are EV-specific tires worth it? Well, they offer some clear benefits in terms of noise reduction, handling, and potentially even extending your electric car’s range. Ultimately, the decision depends on your priorities and budget.
