The Red Bull team in Milton Keynes will make their own engine for the first time in 2026. They’re teaming up with Ford for this project. They know it won’t be easy, competing against big manufacturers like Mercedes, Ferrari, and Audi. But they believe they can do well because they’ve put a lot of effort into becoming one of the best.

Christian Horner, the team principal, talked about the challenge they’re facing. He said they’re learning a lot because they’re starting from scratch with the engine. They’re using the same approach they use for their cars, but making an engine is different. So, they can’t be sure how it will go.

Horner said they don’t know where they stand compared to other teams right now. It’s all new because of the new rules. They don’t have an old engine to learn from, which is a disadvantage in terms of cost. But on the bright side, they don’t have to deal with the problems of an old engine either.

They’ll only know for sure how they’re doing in 2026. But right now, they’re meeting their goals. Considering how much progress they’ve made in the last two years, starting from almost nothing, Horner is impressed.

From 2026, Formula 1 will have new rules for both cars and engines. This could change who’s doing well in the races. But Horner isn’t worried about Red Bull falling behind. He believes they’re good at making cars, and they have a great team working on the engine too.

Horner admitted that what they’re doing is bold and brave, but that’s how Red Bull operates. They’ve made bold decisions before, and they’ve won many races because of it. They’re confident their decision to make their own engine will pay off in the end.
