Marquez soared to his first pole position at the Jerez circuit on Saturday morning, marking a significant achievement for him since joining Gresini Ducati. He secured the top spot during a wet qualifying session by clocking a fast time of 1m46.773s, beating out his competitors.

Before this remarkable feat, Marquez had mentioned that he was fully adjusted to riding the Ducati. This positive result in qualifying validated his statement.

Bezzecchi from the VR46 team held onto the second spot, while Martin from Pramac completed the front row. Despite the wet conditions, Binder managed to qualify fourth after a strong performance in Q1. However, Bagnaia, last year’s Spanish GP winner, faced a setback and ended up in seventh place.

Although the rain had eased before the start of Q2, the track remained wet, ruling out the possibility of using slick tires. Initially, only a few riders opted for the medium wet tires, including Binder, Vinales, and Espargaro.

Marquez set the pace early on, but it was Binder who briefly took the lead with a fast time. However, most riders switched to the medium tires for their second runs. Tech3 rookie Acosta impressed with a rapid lap time but crashed out towards the end of the session.

Bezzecchi briefly claimed provisional pole position with a quick lap time, but Marquez stole the show with an even faster time of 1m46.773s on his final flying lap, securing his 93rd career pole position.

Martin expressed discomfort with the wet conditions but managed to secure third place on the grid. Alex Marquez climbed to sixth position, while Bagnaia slipped to seventh.

Despite a late crash, Acosta qualified in tenth place. Vinales and Espargaro, who switched to soft wet tires, finished in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

Zarco led the Honda riders in 13th place, followed by Oliveira and Miller. Miller faced delays in Q1 due to technical issues with his KTM.

Mir, the leading factory team Honda rider, qualified in 20th place, while Quartararo and Rins had disappointing qualifying sessions, finishing in 23rd and last place, respectively.
