UJMs hold a special place in the hearts of custom bike builders worldwide, offering classic charm and versatility. While the Honda CB750 once dominated the customization scene, Kawasaki’s KZ models have gained popularity among bike-modding enthusiasts over time.
Over 18 months, Ruffo Black Customs meticulously transformed the KZ650 into a true masterpiece. After stripping down the donor bike and discarding much of its stock components, they started on a comprehensive powertrain overhaul. The inline-four engine received modern upgrades, including electronic ignition and fresh coils.
Additional enhancements include an aftermarket oil cooler, premium air filters, and a custom four-into-one exhaust system. The suspension was upgraded with inverted Marzocchi forks sourced from a Ducati, supported by custom triple clamps. At the rear, twin RFY shock absorbers with adjustable preload were installed, accompanied by a bespoke loop-style subframe.
The bike’s design exudes elegance and functionality, with a classy aluminum fuel tank and inconspicuous front fender. Brembo brake calipers and aftermarket rotors ensure ample stopping power, while vintage-looking components such as the headlamp and wrap-around turn signals add character.
The motorcycle’s color scheme, a tasteful blend of black and green with brushed alloy accents, enhances its aesthetic appeal. From the meticulously rebuilt engine to the carefully crafted bodywork, every aspect of the KZ650 reflects Ruffo Black Customs’ dedication to excellence in custom motorcycle craftsmanship.
