A project at Purpose Built Moto (PBM) always has the potential to evolve into something remarkable, even when starting with modest intentions. Such transformations are a testament to the skill and creativity of Tom Gilroy and his team. Recently, they took on a task from a client named Matt, who needed a motorcycle capable of carrying his photography equipment without sacrificing style.
Matt, a professional photographer and avid rider, approached PBM with specific requirements. He needed ample storage for his camera gear without compromising the bike’s sleek appearance. Despite PBM’s busy schedule, Matt patiently waited for his turn, using the time to make some initial modifications himself.
After browsing PBM’s catalog, Matt ordered several accessories, including a Flashpoint headlight, LED turn signals, and rear-view mirrors.
These additions gave his Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 a personal touch before it headed to PBM’s workshop in Gold Coast, Queensland.
At PBM, the focus shifted to customizing the bike’s rear. The stock seat was replaced, and the subframe was shortened, creating space for a minimalist bench seat. PBM also crafted a removable luggage rack, cleverly utilizing the existing footpeg brackets as mounting points.
The bike received further enhancements, including aluminum Excel rims, Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires, and a repainted fuel tank with vibrant orange accents. The handlebar was upgraded, while the intake system and exhaust were also improved for better performance.
Despite the extensive modifications, PBM categorizes this project as a “Quick Fix,” a testament to their efficiency and expertise. With the build complete, Matt is sure to enjoy his personalized motorcycle for years to come.
