BMW Motorrad’s boxer-twin models have a strong presence in the custom motorcycle scene, but the less popular K variants have also gained traction among builders worldwide. In South Africa, Jens Henkel of Hyde Designs challenged convention by customizing a 2008 BMW G650X Challenge into a striking supermoto named Octavia.

Henkel’s design process involved digital sketches and cardboard mock-ups to perfect the angular bodywork inspired by supermoto and cafe racer styling. The fabrication included a steel gas tank and fiberglass tail section, seamlessly integrated with a custom saddle for both form and comfort.

The bike features upgraded suspension with Yamaha R1 fork internals and a Honda-sourced adjustable Showa monoshock. Repurposed Suzuki Bandit wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax tires provide optimal traction and aesthetics.

Performance enhancements include premium air filtration, a handmade exhaust system from Pretoria’s Stealth Pipe, and a sleek grey and black color scheme with subtle BMW motorsport accents. Octavia embodies individuality and performance, setting new standards in Motorrad customization.
